Bio - So Far

Photography has been a constant, if necessarily patient, part of my life.  From a Polaroid "Swinger" in the 1960s to digital and film photography today,  I've found that collecting fragments of light is best used to gather glimpses of life.

The adventure included a semester as college paper photo editor,  followed by darkroom duties at my first job at a legal-affairs newspaper. Law school and an office career kept me out of photography for a bit but more recently, I have been able to resume the passion through documentary, portrait, and fine art images. My Instructors at the Santa Fe Photography Workshops,  Norman Mauskopf and David Turnley,  helped me develop my environmental portraiture  and photo essay skills, while David Sotelo, at Art Center College of Design, pushed me find the photograph that raises questions but that doesn't necessarily prov
ide the answers.

Though careers in journalism and the law are not traditional routes for a photographer, each has contributed to a foundation in story-telling and human interaction that I hope will continue to show up in my pictures.
